If you have heard someone use the term “ASE-Certified Technician”, but were never quite sure what it meant in terms of serving your vehicle’s needs, we’re here to help!
A national non-profit program called the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) was established in 1972 to test and certify individual technicians in all major technical areas of repair and service. They were created to help consumers distinguish between incompetent and competent mechanics using difficult national tests that prove their technical skills and knowledge.
Becoming certified requires passing at least one exam and fulfilling two years of work experience. There are specialty exams that cover major areas of repair including: Manual Drive Train and Axles, Engine Repair, Suspension and Steering, Heating and Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, Brakes, Automatic Transmissions and Electrical Systems. The tests are administered by ACT (known for its academic and occupational testing programs).
In order for a technician to remain certified, they must be re-tested every five years to keep up with technology. Because auto technicians are often specialized, it’s important to ask for a Redlands mechanic who is certified in the appropriate area.
It can sometimes be a stressful process finding the right auto technician you feel you can trust to take care of your vehicle’s needs. ASE was established to give you peace of mind. Because auto repairs can cost a lot of money, it is important to have an ASE-Certified Technician take care of the repair so you can be assured that your vehicle will be fixed right, the first time.
Come to our shop and have one of our expert ASE-Certified Redlands Mechanics inspect your vehicle’s condition today so you can avoid costly repairs in the future!
